Rumney RFC youth on course to make history

Rumney RFC Youth reached their 2nd welsh youth cup final in succession beating Newbridge Rfc youth 24-5, it was a very hard-fought game between top of the Dragons league against top of the blues league. Newbridge game out of the blocks the quickest by scoring an early try in the first 7 mins of the game, but Rumney responded 5 mins later with a try of their own to take the lead 7-5.  there on it was two sides giving everything they had with Rumney scoring again and taking a 14-5 lead going into half time. Second half was all about who scored first if Newbridge scored first they were back in the game if Rumney scored first then Newbridge would have to score twice, that’s exactly what Rumney did wining a penalty which outside half Regan Mahoney slotted straight through the middle to increase Rumney lead to 17-5, Newbridge had their chances to get back into the game pressuring the Rumney try line on a number of occasions but the Rumney defence was excellent, some outstanding play by man of the match James Skene in the loose turning over ball and winning a penalty helped Rumney clear there line then again by number 8 Owen Jones making an amazing tackle to hold the ball up over the try line giving Rumney the chance to clear there line again. The game was slipping away from Newbridge as time went on, then to seal victory Rumney scored again with a great team try and an excellent finish by wing Joe Morgan seen Rumney win the game 24-5.

The Final will now be contested against Rumney RFC Youth v Treorchy RFC Youth on the 21st of April at the Principality stadium.
