Texas Tour 2018

On June 04th, Rumney Rfc returned from a successful tour to Texas.

On the Tour the team visited Austin, San Antonio and Dallas, with three games to play in 35+ degrees heat the over the 10 day tour.

The first game Rumney play against Dallas Harlequins RFC. Dallas currently play in Division 1. The boys found it hard to play in the extremely hot weather, however their fitness and team spirit got them through the game and Rumney won the game 33-22.

After a two-day turnaround, Rumney would play against San Antonio RFC. San Antonio were the 2017/18 Division 2 champions. Again, the boys started well but the heat took its toll and the two-day turnaround also added pressure, However Rumney did win the game 29-24.

The final game saw Rumney face off against Austin Blacks RFC, Austin were Finalists in the USA Nationals and were unlucky in the final losing 27-29 to Belmont Shore RFC. This game was a hard fought contest and the score line reflects this. Rumney won 10-7.

The boys received excellent Hospitality from all three hosts and would like to send their thanks!! #Rugbyfamily

The club would also like to thank the players for representing the club in a professional manor on and off the field.

The players and supporters would also like to thank the non-players who went on the tour and played during the trip, their commitment on the field during these games was outstanding.
